The 5th Annual Friends for Life Walkathon is a wrap!
With amazing support from animals lovers throughout South Georgian Bay, we raised over $31,000! Despite unexpected storm-like conditions the night before, the skies cleared in the morning to reveal its brilliant blue and sunny disposition – just in time for all the Walkers of the 2 and 4 legged variety!
This year, we held the Walkathon in two locations – Blue Mountain Village and a sister Walk in Meaford!
At Blue Mountain Village, we filled the day with a 3K Walk and fur-friendly and family fun activities including PAWparazzi, Pool PAWty Alumi Zone, Pet Costume Contest, Sparky from Blue Mountain Fire Dept, Groove dance with Tyler Boyle, Paw Print Tile Crafts by Crock-a-Doodle, face painting, scavenger hunt, live music with Sean Cotton, Yappy Hour at Copper Blues – and a special appearance from Chase and Marshall of Paw Patrol!
In Meaford, we too had just as much fun with a lovely stroll along the harbour front, through town streets – stopping on the steps of Meaford Hall for a group photo – and the Georgian Trail. With Sparky leading the way, cars honked in support of our small but mighty and meaningful group!
Our top fundraiser (who also happens to be team captain of the top fundraising team) is… Elizabeth Parker! She raised over $3,000 – and is the lucky winner of the one-night stay at the Westin Trillium House!! Wow – thank you!
Overall, another successful fundraiser to benefit the cats and dogs at our shelter!
